About the name¶
yet another place and route¶
yapnr stands for “yet another place and route”. Its slightly fantastical sound suggested a second, playful expansion: “Yavanna-Assisted Placement ‘N Routing”. That backronym was coined for this project.
The namesake is Yavanna, the figure in Tolkien’s legendarium associated with growing things and the protection of plants (Tolkien Gateway). Her connection to trees inspired the logo’s central idea: a tree whose branches are electronic routes.
The story¶
Imagine a gardener of silicon. First, each part finds its place; then paths grow between them. A floorplan becomes a small, carefully tended forest of connections. The engine’s practical work, placing parts and routing signals, becomes the quiet craft of giving a circuit room to grow.
“Yet another place and route” remains the everyday expansion. The Yavanna backronym gives the project a little woodland mythology to carry alongside it.
The mark¶
The emblem is a compact circuit-tree sigil. Its branching trunk suggests a Y for yapnr. Angular branches echo routed wires, while square and diamond pads suggest placed parts and connection points. The roots continue the routing motif below the trunk.
Forest green carries the woodland theme; gold highlights selected terminals. The lowercase wordmark has restrained, leaf-like curves that lend it an elvish character while keeping the name readable.
